My plans for a productive weekend came unstuck on Sunday and I ended the weekend doing absolutely nothing at all. We even had leftovers on Sunday so there wasn't much cooking involved. Its nice to have a day off though and I'm all fired up to start getting rid of my last ToDo items this week. I'm hoping for some good news tomorrow, but have decided that, if it doesn't come my way I am going to take a new direction. Sometimes, there is a message that needs to be listened to, instead of relentlessly battling on.
I was looking at an article about older borrowing, that I'd saved a while back. The mortgage company seems to be saying they will lend up to 85 years old, no more than 60% of the value of the house, a max of £150k and standard rate only. So, while we are planning to pay off the mortgage before retirement, there is a fall back if circumstances unexpectedly change. It also means we don't have to rely on taking lump sums from our pensions. Especially as I've also got a good final salary pension (it seems to be better to take the smallest lump sum possible, so that your pension stays as large as possible as its a lifetime pension). Its made me a little more relaxed about our mortgage situation, but I'm still determined to pay it off as quickly as we can.
I've started to feel really at home in the new house and the Shores' Moggy seems to be feeling it too. He jumped on the bed earlier and did a huge sigh before promptly going to sleep. I looked it up and it means they are totally relaxed and content. I felt terrible a few months ago, wondering if we'd done the right thing, but now it feels like it was definitely the right thing to do. Can't wait for the spring time in a few weeks and to see the plants all springing into life - definitely a lovely time of year."Think of many things, do one"

Thanks SH, I was so positive wasn't I. There was I saying, if the good news doesn't come it means a new direction, and then I was in floods of tears when it didn't come. Not really sure why, but I suspect its to do with feeling very tired and just trying far too hard at something that isn't meant to be. Feeling a lot better now I've got it out of my system and actually its just one part of my life - the rest is all good (well as good as ever). So, now to concentrate on making it all better than good. Life's what you make it and all that
ps - positive things, the 1lb I lost had stayed off this morning and the back is virtually better, so I went for a short run!"Think of many things, do one"

Wise words SH. I am trying to remember Frozen (let it go, let it go
).
I had some good news today, worth a few hundred pounds. The great thing about being debt-free is that you get to choose how to spend little windfalls, rather than it getting swallowed up in my old credit card mountain. So DH and I will be splitting part of it, and some will be going to the mortgage overpayment. Its taking a little while to get everything sorted in the house. I like to look at home furnishings before I buy them, and its not exactly easy at the moment. I also have to get rid of my ToDo list before I start on the nice stuff, so I need to get on with that and start eating frogs."Think of many things, do one"

- Xmas saver is now up to £90 (Feb's target) courtesy of bonus points from MrS
- Mortgage overpayment will be made next month - I'll do a double payment (£200) when I receive my little windfall payment into the account (well I did hope something would turn up).
- No significant movement on the weight loss, which is good and bad, but I have started running again as the back is almost fully better.
- To Do list has been very neglected again.
- Some people are having a horrendous time, so I have to remind myself of my positives everyday: I have a lovely home, loving family, secure job and health - and if you have those the rest is icing on the cake surely.
Plans for the weekend are to:- finally tackle that to do list - its a real mental sticking point for me (I need a session on fleabay which will feed into the bullet point below)
- plan how to make the bedroom more relaxing and less like an office (I aim to end up with at least an Ikea list)
- work on my learning (I've one course on the go and another to apply for).

I’m trying to run a bit more too, I’ve been out this morning and I do feel better. I’m trying to watch what I eat as I gained a few pounds at Christmas which I still haven’t lost. @SandyShores
greats news on the op double payment, very satisfying I’m sure.3 -

Just having a lovely Sunday morning coffee - its all quiet in the Shores' household.
Fleabay session has been postponed until lockdown is over, but I've managed to store the stuff away a little more tidily, which has helped. I've also got the Ikea list together - main items is out of stock, so will wait for that to come in before the bedroom co-ordination project. Learning is going to be a late afternoon task, when the rest of the Shores' will also be in front of their screens.
Hi @caelergot to love an overpayment or twoWell done for getting out running - I'm only doing 5k at the moment, but I'd love to build it up to 5 miles again (always sounds impressive when you say you've done a 5 mile run
). I'm going for three times a week again as the weight just dropped off me last time.
Thanks @savingholmesI'm enjoying it so much more having cleared away the clutter and planned the re-organisation."Think of many things, do one"
