I have a CCJ with TM Legal / Asset Collections who I have been making ad-hoc payments to. Yesterday I received an email from them saying I need to contact them by 19th November to prevent them from passing my details to their "third party supplier" who will track down my employment details and apply for an attachment of earnings.

Anyone had experience of TM Legal / Asset Collections doing this? The CCJ has been live for 2 years and they have done nothing up until now.

I've got the money to pay it off (£1600) so might end up just doing that as I work for a small company and don't really want them involved in my old debts and knowing.

Yes they can further enforce the judgement if you are not sticking to the monthly payment set by, or agreed with, the court.
If you have the funds to clear it, then I would do so, as long as it dosen`t leave you short.
The letter is a thinly veiled threat to obtain regular payments from you.

  • I have the funds and won't be left short so will probably pay it this week.

It's just I've found nothing on the Internet that they do anything after the initial CCJ stage.

Oh they do pursue these matters most definitely, but it does depend on who the company concerned is.
Further action is normally based on your personal circumstances, debt purchasing companies have large litigation departments, who do lots more than just process CCJ applications.

It's unlikely that a debt collector will be able to track down who employs you so  it's a bit of a threat.

However, they could spend money on an order to obtain information. Then the court would cal you in to answer specific questions, and a failure to engage wiith that does carry a jail sentence.

So if you can afford to clear this it is probably worth doing.
