My decorator charged me £100 per day, I supplied all the paint and products. He worked from 9am to 4.30pm.
Theres a board on here called "in my home" theres some really knowledgeable people who may be better to advise? But post the room dimensions and if you need the surfaces prepped beforehand.
Hope that helps.1 -
You're best getting at least three prices for the job. A decent decorator will be ok with fixed price rather than estimate as long as they've been able to see what's involved. No idea what sort of paper you're thinking of but if you still feel the rooms are too hot and then cold. I'd have a word with the lady next door . She's possibly got the same boiler if her property is similar to yours and may be able to advise you re the settings.I had a problem when I realised the inner walls here were plasterboard and the house felt colder than the one I'd left. Like you the inner doors were hollow rather than solid wood.I'd already signed the mortgage papers so replaced the doors with solid wood as I couldafford to over a period of time.About 10 years ago I noticed various sorts of lining paper in the trade shop.I'm happy with plain painted walls and about 8 years ago started decorating with Wallrock and similar heavy plain lining papers. A lot of peaple add patterened paper on top but painted the paper was fine and it made a big difference to the warmth of each room..The stone walls in your previous home with have held the heat especially with the stove lit 24/7Plasterboard or thinner walls doesn't do that . Just a thought Mar.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.1 -
That is very true Polly, the stone walls in the last house were always warm to touch, in this house everything goes cold very fast. We got one guy in who took pics, typed away on his wee tablet for ages, then went off saying he'd email us a price within a week. Never got it yet. Then I heard of somebody local and we emailed him. Older man, very nice, came, looked round, then said he had a laddie who needed some extra casha nd would £100 in cash be ok. Sorted the old fashioned way! Thanks everybody.3
