O/S Daily Thursday 12 November 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start to the day.
DH up and gone to work, DS1 having a lie-in as using up some leave, I'm now on annual leave - so nice not to have to rush about getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a full english, enjoyed by us all. Not sure about tonight as yet.
Have several chores I want to get done - will get going with the washing shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. After the rain comes the sun, let's hope it stays around. Yesterday was a stay indoors day even when I wanted to go out. Somehow I CBA'd in the end. I spent some gentle time cutting up small tablets into quarters. Using a wee gadget helps but it's such a fiddly thing to do, I have to use tweezers to move the bits around. This morning the cleaner is coming and so is her husband who is the window cleaner. Double whammy. My week has been marginally difficult and I'm missing my breakfast date, however my lovely friend has rearranged his routine to meet me tomorrow instead of yesterday.I've got a couple of items to post so need to do that at the PO. And I've got a wee cake shop to visit too. 😀
I found it very moving when watching the 100 year film footage of the Unknown Soldier being brought across the channel and into London. Such huge crowds and such respect.RR - I hope you're still feeling OK for your op and that the final house clearance goes well.Happy Friday Thursday to all. Oops!13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's fine with a bit of sunshine just now but drizzle is forecast, with a bit of a breeze. I've just had my usual winter route march round the back to feed the birds. The back garage door has developed it's annual winter swell 'n' stick so I have to trail all the way round from the front door. They may not get fed when it's raining!
All went well at the vets and with no sign of the allergy erupting (yet!!) it was a cheaper visit for a change. Just 3 months flea treatment to pay for - £33. My shopping trip with DD involved a detour to the big B & M. I can't believe how much excitement I can get from roaming round a big bargain store when visits are so few and far between these days! I bought a large hamper basket for the foodie gifts I had ordered for DS and DP from Lakeland, plus a few more treats to pop in too.
The excitement of today will be cleaning the kitchen and bathroom to lighten the load for the Friday Tidy tomorrow. As I had the usual sleep deprived night I may just have a nap this afternoon. I don't know who is hogging the Sandman but I wish they would release him from their wardrobe and send him to see me, please! Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay sane and safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here today which is nice but its quite cold, dd is off to the office all day so a day on my own which is nice.
DD and I went over to her house yesterday and gave it one final check the van had gone thank goodness and we checked the shed and found he had left loads of bits in thereso we loaded the car up as much as possible and bought it all home, there are a few bits we can sell as we just dont want them, the house should complete today all being well.
I was shattered when I got in (dont tell me off Nels) so dd treated us to a takeaway which was lovely so we will have the lasagne tonight instead, so today I intend to have an easy day, I will take the dogs for a run and have a very quick tidy through and be on the sofa with a film this afternoon.
Have good days all xx14 -
Morning all and thanks NMLC for the start off. After torrential rain and high winds last night all is now calm and dry, but it's not going to last much past lunchtime.I did my online xmas shopping yesterday so at least I've made a start, I've ordered Dad's and some things for DGD. I need to check my xmas cards though, I think I've got enough for friends and neighbours, but I will have to get my act together and make the family ones.I've had a rubbish night's sleep with Mr Fix It moaning every time he moved. The only place he was able to sleep pain free was on his back and that meant he snored so I gave up and de-camped to the sofa but sleep still eluded me. I did try the day bed in the spare bedroom first but I could still hear the snoring.I started this over an hour ago but then my Iceland delivery arrived, all items were present and correct. I have disinfected/washed the goods and just need to put it all away, as a bonus I also had money off my shop, £13 in total, fab. My plans for today include opening my salon as Mr Fix It has booked himself in for a hair and beard cut with a polish on the top, sadly he won't need the Santa look this year. I am awaiting a parcel delivery and then I probably won't do any more than have a nana nap and an early night. We have to be up early again tomorrow as himself has a "bloods" appointment ready for his oncology review in 2 weeks time. Tea tonight will be leftover tortellini in tomato sauce, easy.Hugs to the worriers and anyone having a difficult time. Sending healing vibes to the poorly ones, the families and pets.Take care all, stay safe and well.nan xxPS. TA I haven't got him in my wardrobe either, he must have found a new homeFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
A gorgeous sunny morning so far and I have bedding on the line. It might not dry completely but at least it won't be drooping wetly on the rack for too long.
I don't have much of a plan today, will probably try to make the best of a sunny day outside. Yesterday was quite breezy and lots more leaves fell, I have loads bagged up for leafmould but am running out of space.
RR you and your daughter must be so relieved to have reached completion day.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all. Bright ish today and no rain after yesterdays torrents luckily, because the wood arrival is today although I have no idea what time it will be. I went back into the room of doom [ books and boxes] but gave up after shifting a few things around, it was just too overwhelming. I'll give it another go after the wood is stacked today. Once the car is nearer the house it's psychlogically easier because I imagine filling it up will be easier ...I know, it makes no sense but there you go. I'll go to the pharmacy and get my prescription today as well, running out of the normal tablets. We made a quiz last night for my cousin and my sister , to reciprocate after she sent us hers last week. And we still have some kedgeree left for lunch but that leaves supper wide open for thinking about. It might be fajita time, it's been a month or two since those.Ruby, well thank god it's completion day, hope it goes smoothly. Hope you get some sleep nanny, worrying about tomorrow probably doesn't help, hope it goes OK. Gers, hope you get to go to yourhome for a bit of respite soon. TA, sounds like fun,I love a good SM shop but BMs will do in a pinch
Hope you get some sleep soon too. Enjoy the sun AOD, it's been a bit hens teeth lately....Hey all reading along, hope you're doing well, time off Thursday....

Morning all.
Sorry, the Sandman seems to have moved in here, and brought a few friends and relatives with him. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to turn up until the early morning and I have to fill in the time with reading or doing crosswords. Never mind, I have nothing to get up for, so it doesn't matter when I finally surface.
Fingers crossed for a successful Completion, RedRuby. What a journey you've all been on.
Here the sun is shining and I am contemplating trying to sort out my grandly named study. Actually the supposed third bedroom, although I'm not sure what sort of bed you could shoehorn in there. Maybe a baby's cot. At the moment it is full of things that won't fit anywhere else. I have a lot of that.
But first......COFFEE.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Have trouble remembering how to fly.12 -
Hi everyone,
I'm posting before I read because I might be on borrowed time so I'm sorry if I missed anyone's important news.
I did see yesterday RR that your pre-op went ok and DD's house has exchanged so several thumbs up to you.
We've been having a time of it, Esben hasn't been at all well, we thought at first it was teeth but it seemed worse than normal so Laura actually managed to see a doctor with him on Monday but they couldn't find anything. Then on Tuesday the rash came out and we're pretty sure he's got roseola. He seems to be on the mend now though still covered in spots but still not sleeping particularly well. Brian is back in Glasgow because his mum is now well enough to be told her diagnosis and they wanted someone there. He saw her yesterday and is staying on till the weekend as he's been told he can see her again. So we have Laura and Esben until at least Monday, which we don't mind at all, although I'll probably need a week in bed to recover after!
Steve's gone to the hospital for his treatment but should be back soon I think because they seem to have become more efficient at shunting people through since lockdown. I have meals to plan - chicken and broccoli tonight I think, kedgeree tomorrow and steak and chips on Saturday, then a roast on Sunday.11
