You worked for UF and have lost track of a deferred pension?
  • Hi, Yes thanks, paid into a Superannuation fund from 1975 to 1984, forgot about it until I received a letter from Royal London saying I might have a policy with them and I have been traced by Lexis Nexis, I've contacted Lexis Nexis with my details they said they would forward my details to Royal London, heard no more since.

Make sure you are not trying the Royal London call centre for life and pensions.  They will probably think you mean a retail pension.   You need to speak to their HR.    Or try staff.pensions@royallondon.com

You need to speak to their HR.

I wonder should he be speaking to Willis Towers Watson?

If you have a question about your Royal London Group Pension Scheme pension, contact the Scheme's administrators on:

From link in my previous above

The Royal London Group Pension Scheme represents the merger of Royal London’s original pension scheme with those relating to the Refuge, Scottish Life and United Friendly businesses.

The Scheme was established in October 1988 as the Refuge Group Pension Scheme and was subsequently renamed the United Assurance Group Pension Scheme. In 2001 the assets and liabilities of the Refuge Assurance Superannuation Fund were transferred into the Scheme. This was followed in December 2002 by transfers of the assets and liabilities from the Scottish Life International Officers’ Retirement Benefits Scheme and the Scottish Life Directors (No. 2) Retirement Benefits Scheme.

In December 2003 the Scheme was merged withThe Royal London Staff Pension Fund, the Scottish Life Officers’ Retirement Benefits Scheme and the United Friendly Group Pension Scheme.

    Type of Scheme

The Scheme is a final salary defined pension scheme, which means your pension is based on your length of service and your salary prior to retirement.

The Scheme was closed to new entrants in September 2005.

  • Hi, Contacted Towers Watson, no details of me on their system, incidentally I received a letter from LexisNexis informing me that I might have a policy with Royal London, and they had sent letters to the address when I was employed by United Friendly which was an old address  and returned by Royal Mail,   I gave LexisNexis my details and passed the Partial security they said they would send them over to Royal London, that was over 2 weeks ago, not heard from them as yet.
    Thanks.

Hi, Contacted Towers Watson, no details of me on their system,

I didn't think they administered the old UF DB scheme. So, that is probably why.

You are under State Pension Age?
Have you obtained a State Pension Forecast?

Have you  checked your NI record with DWP to see whether you were contracted out in the period that you worked for UF?
If so post 78 you should have a GMP.

DWP holds a detailed record of the periods of contracted-out and contracted-in employment, indexed by NI number. The guy I spoke to at DWP gave me the complete breakdown of my record over the phone. No values or employers, just the dates of employment and whether contracted-out or in.
