Newbie Comper hoping to win small prizes.

Options
Hey all, I started comping yesterday. Mainly to win some small xmas prezzies for my family, I have a large family and am a bit skint this year so wanted to win them some small gifts to make their presents look a little better. Yesterday I entered about 40 competitions, and I have a week off work, so I'm hoping to win at least something. Ignoring all the big prizes such as holidays, expensive gadgets, money etc. So hoping that will give me more of a chance! I would also like to spoil my wonderful little cat this xmas, he lives with my parents so I haven't been able to see him for my weekly visits as much as I used to.

To others who are doing the same, how long was it until you started winning?

You could win the first competition you enter ... you might not win anything for 2 years ... who knows, there is no algorithm or magic formula.  If you are expecting to win anything in time for Christmas then I would probably prepare to be disappointed, That's not to say it won't happen, but it's more likely you won't win anything.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Your best bet is probably to concentrate on Twitter / Instagram style comps if you're looking for smaller prizes.  We've also got the advents coming up so you might do ok on them if you concentrate on the lower value prizes ... you may not receive these prizes before Christmas though.
Good luck though! ... and welcome to the forum :)

Starting to enter now you have more chance of winning and actually receiving the prize next year not this one.
  • In my experience the more time you can put into it the better. 40 a day might not be enough, especially if the reward is small. If you can spend more time, why not enter the big things too?  If you can only manage around 40 you might as well enter the bigger ones so, if you do win its worth it.

I won my first ever competition which was a TV from Heart radio, that was a one of competition I entered.
Then I started comping a few years ago, entering around 50-120 a day, winning 2-12 competitions a month.
Most of my wins come from Gleam and Facebook competitions.
I haven't entered many competitions this year and hope to enter more especially now the advents are coming.
You'll probably find if you are lucky that your first win comes in, in around a months time when most competitions are ending.
Check your emails regularly, search for congratulations and congrats in your emails, keep on top of your emails and spam folder. Try your luck at the bigger competitions too if they don't take long to enter, you never know you might get lucky!
    Good Luck!
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.
  • If you want to win smaller prizes, you should stick to social media competitions imo.

I started comping seriously in Dec last year and won about 5 things on the advents, which did all arrive in time for Christmas.
This included a TV which showed up on Christmas eve! But you should try for the big ones as well, as someone has to win, might be you!

It is luck, but the more comps you enter, the better chance you have.

Comping is fun and can get some great prizes from it, but you need to be prepared to not win anything. It can vary from month to month, you may win loads one month but then not win anything for ages
