Quick question about Amazon account

When my Mother signs into Amazon a small Union Jack flag appears and a pop up saying she is shopping on Amazon UK and asking if she wishes to change currency. I've checked her account and nothing seems to be set differently to mine, UK address, UK payment details etc. She also has to verify her account every time she signs in by getting a code sent to her email. Just curious to know why?

She has to verify her account when she signs in because she has signed up for 2 step verification.
You can turn it on or off if you want.

I also have two step verification on amazon which I signed up for after my account with them was hacked and I had to change all my details. I would rather do that now as it was quite upsetting having my account hacked. Your Mother could turn it off but if she doesn't mind just checking her email, I'd leave it. My verification goes to my mobile phone and it makes me think my account's just that bit safer.
You can actually also change the URL to Smile amazon uk and a donation will go to the charity of your choice (at no cost to you) every time you buy something. That's just a suggestion, it's something I do - it's no trouble and it's helping charities. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Thanks for replies. Anyone know about the flag? I thought maybe she'd signed up on the.com site but nothing in the account indicates that and she's signing in on .co.uk0
