HELP I keep getting a popup with 'Interactive services dialog detection'

Please can someone help  me as I keep getting 'Interactive services dialog detection' popup box that tells me that a program, (C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\svchost.exe) cannot load as it might not be compatible with my operating system (vista).

I have looked up this error, it looks like a Trojan virus is trying to load but hasn't taken hold.

My Norton antivirus hasn't sorted it, so can anyone tell me how to get rid of it.

Thanks :D

  • It's not a virus, it's a service started by Vista

Disable it by going to Start | Run and type in services.msc to open up the Windows Services console.
Double click on Interactive Service to view its properties
Under Startup type, either select it to Manual to start when you need it or Disabled to never use it, personally, I would choose the latter
Click on the Stop button to stop the service
  • Thanks Red Rose Exile, I have done as you have suggested but it still comes back, I have just switched on my Laptop and it's back.

    Any other ideas? :D

  • Thanks albertross, but I can't find the file as it doesn't come up from the searches that I have done......

Am I missing something in the search?

Try c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe (that's where the file resides on XP. May differ on Vista).

Also look at this article about Vista's Interactive Services Detection Service.

  • You may have to search in hidden files and folders

can you also check in services for netpker
if it exists in your service, disable it
