    OK

There is little scope in your own SOA, apart from food and ciggies and hopefully you can cut the second down if not out That is what I am hoping for the give them up altogether.

On the other hand, do you really need a car, can you cut your mileage, get the bus, work extra hours, take second job? anything to start clearing the really awful cards? I work 25 miles from home and it would take a train the metro and a bus to get to work if I started at 6 I might be there by 8.30 so this is a bit unrealistic, I also sometimes have to drive while at work. I ebay everything I can to get as much extra, no extra job as I work a 40+ hour week as it is with 2hours driving each day.

To make the point, rog2 found that although he stopped using it and was paying the minimum every month, in the year before he was made BK, his debt to MBNA increased by £1000. That is what I am reallyu scared of as the interest is extortionate

As a household it may be possible to cut other expenditure but really people need to see information about all the expenditure not just yours.

The other minor thing to look at is chevaliers excellent list of survey sites and pay per clicks. Some people collect £50 per month and every penny helps.
This is something I am interested in doing so will work out how to get to the thread to find out how.

Thank you for your suggestions they really are concentrating my mind.

Chevalier has a really good list of links nicked wholesale good way to get vouchers for presents etc. Some people here reckon that they can get £50 per month for clicks, surveys etc in vouchers mainly.

finally get onto the freebies forum here, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=37
sometimes more useful for pressies but also samples of stuff that make life more interesting.

    Here are some
survey sites, which will increase your income a little. Hope they help.

    Good luck
    chev

    www.lightspeedpanel.com - this is a
survey site, where you get points which turn into vouchers (you choose). May not help with the cash flow, but the vouchers could be saved towards birthday/xmas or given as presents.

    www.ciao.co.uk -
survey site that gives money. A bit fits and starts ie no surveys for a couple of weeks, then three or four the same day.

www.yougov.com - again paid surveys. However takes a while to get to the minimum payout level

    www.mytns.com - again this is a
survey site, but it pays you in points that convert into Nectar points at Sainsbury’s.

www.pigsback.co.uk - this is a points site, ie they give you points for buying things via their site. BUT you also get points for signing up for news letters (some of which are even interesting!), and also for clicking on adverts with pink borders. I have spent NOTHING with them but got a £10 voucher through this week (only been registered since January). There is also a thread in the freebies section, of www.moneysavingexpert.com which gives you all the daily answers to the competitions so you can have a better chance of winning on them.

www.mutualpoints.com - another points for clicks site. You can also buy things via their site and get points too. For a long time, I just clicked the links in the emails they send you, and that gets you 5 points. At 3000 points you get £20 I think. You can do searches via their site and that gets you points too.

www.quidco.com - this is a cash back site, so very good, for checking if any potential new insurers (ie if you have checked your contents insurance say and found a new provider), are offering cash back. Eg Lloyds was offering £120 cashback on new policies at one point (the offers do change). You can also get small amounts of cash again for doing searches via their site. You can earn 52p a day by doing this. Every little helps.

www.greasypalm.co.uk - another cash back site, where you can do searches and get small amounts of money. But it all adds up. I think you can get about 50p a day on there for nothing. Minimum payout is £20 I think, but you can sign up to
survey sites via there, and get extra money that way for nothing.

And check mystery shopping, here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....html?t=454437 - but this does count as income for tax and benefit purposes
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

I have had a few cigarettes today, normally by now I would have had about 15 and I have only had about 5 so not great, but a definite improvement.

Well done for doing so well. A little at a time - you don't have to persecute yourself, you are doing well as it is.

    Evening all,
Well I am about to start the job of rewriting my job description again as I feel I am on the wrong banding at work and there are a lot of duties, that I do that are not included - or written correctly. Hopefully if I am successful this will add another level and allow me to increase my salary over time by £6000. Not that I am expecting it, but my boss thinks I will have a good chance.

The only problem is what to write as it has to be quite specific. I was told by a colleague that it has to include quality work and not quantity. This is where I am struggling.

I work as an ICT Technical Administrator and PA to Head of ICT. The banding is the same for a generic PA. So I will need to be careful to list all work done and make it sound like I am actually doing more than a PA.

    Heather.

Well now that Christmas is over, I thought I would have a look and try to set myself a mini challenge to make the reduction of my debt seem slightly easier

I have not stopped smoking, but have purchased some Nicorette products (expensive I know) and will try again in earnest this time - no excuses!

I spent way too much, as I am sure a lot of other people may be able to recognise, on one day in the year! I will start saving for next Christmas now.

I have begun the sealed pot challenge to save as much as possible especially £2 coins. All of the money saved will be used to reduce my debt so I am frantically looking for £2 coins wherever I go :rotfl: I might regret this as I had to put £8 in the other day - while on the one hand it felt great, on the other it made my purse extremely light.

Well I will pop back in from time to time and check on myself so as not to forget why I am here, I keep getting sidetracked with other peoples diaries though:o

Take care everybody and I do hope the New Year brings exactly what you want. Just remember it has to be MSE all the way! I say this more to myself than to anyone else.

Happy New Year when it gets here.

    Heather.

  • The Barroness (senior practice nurse) says that at the surgery the docs will insist that the ptient attend smoking cessation clinic as only 1% of smokers actually give up on their own. good luck with giving up the smoking, not only will your purse be better off, you will be a lot healthier.

Hi heather, well done on the debt you have paid off so far, and good luck for your mini challenge. It can be hard keeping up the momentum sometimes paying off the debt, thats why i stick with my diary a few times a week.

Good luck quitting smoking, im sure you have the motivation to do it! just as im sure i have the motivation to loose weight! i just need a kick to remind me to put the chocolate away!
