Toddler bed

My parents want to buy my daughter's first bed as a xmas present.
Can anybody recommend any particular companies or beds? Or give me an idea of who not to use!
Not especially looking for cheapest - but not looking to take advantage of my parents either. Just would like something really good at a reasonable price.

We bought our daughter a Birch "Monika" bed. Good quality, nice finish, and delivered within 2 days flat packed. The side bars don't have to be added, and IMHO the bed looks much nicer without them.
Cost was about £80 from TwoLeftFeet, however they have now gone up in price to £90, so Kiddicare may be your better bet.

The TwoLeftFeet sprung matress was also very good, but probably not the cheapest (or best).
Plenty of places sell the Sapplings bed for around £50, but the one I saw wasn't that well constructed / stained.
Also Ikea have a reasonable range of "extendable" beds, but the extending matresses don't look at all comfortable.

I wouldn't go for a smaller than normal bed. Your daughter will soon grow, and until she does, she'll probably fill it up with soft toys! You used to be able to buy bed guards if you (or she) are worried about her falling out.
Local bed specialists sometimes have good deals vs. the national chains.Signature removed for peace of mind0
