Cautious first time investor looking at Triodos

Options
I want to put my money where my mouth is and use a chunk of it to do something 'good' (e.g supporting sustainable business/organisations/renewables), but I'm a first time investor and a little uncertain about investing directly in 'green' businesses, so I've been thinking about saving or investing through an ethical bank/building society/financial services provider.
The only option I'vre found so far is Triodos - I'd be really interested to hear of anyone's experience investing with them and whether they are any other alternative providers out there?
Many thanks,
DC

Hi DennC and welcome. It looks like you are embarking on a path several others have been pursuing for some time and I congratulate for choosing it.
Afraid I've no knowledge of Triodos and they may well be genuine ESG investors, no doubt others may already use them and comment accordingly.
As for alternate options then Martyn1981 created a thread for those interested in ethical investment. I've added a link to it below and it may well be worth spending a while trawling through it's contents. Have to say I was surprised by how many options there appears to be when it comes to looking for what you are seeking.
I took my first nervous step two years ago and have found it thoroughly absorbing since. Amongst many, the advise often repeated by those in the know appears to be "Apply due diligence" and "Not putting all your eggs in one basket."
Also, Crowdfunding sites often allow you to invest in as little as £5 so little more than some people spend weekly on scratch cards etc. Enjoy the Ride!

Hi Coastalwatch - thanks for getting back to me. Will look at the ethical investment thread you suggested. DC

I don't know where the fault lies but in January I sent Triodos a request to transfer in my IFISA from Zopa. Two months on the money is still with Zopa.
Triodos say allow two weeks for the transfer, after three weeks I emailed to ask for an update. They blamed Zopa. Eventually I contacted Zopa to ask what was going on. They need me to provide them with some details about the transfer request which I've asked Triodos to supply.
