It was going to be outright rejection then no one would be wasting their time. Processing is taking time. With many staff working from home processes aren't as streamlined.

When a lender asks for information and then you wait a week and then they ask for more information and then you wait a week etc. It feels very ominous. I wonder if it’s just a slow drawn out rejection. Has anyone experienced this and not been rejected?

Are you applying via a broker or direct?

Is this the same property you have made posts about, but then deleted your opening one (it makes it so much harder for anyone to comment if you keep doing that)

In the main if a lender is asking questions, it means they are looking to do the case (in my opinion), but that does not mean they will definitely do it.

When I started out as a broker, I used to hate underwriters asking questions but now i have more experience, I realise it is not usually a bad thing. But that assumes the case fits criteria and you have nothing to hide.

A similar thing happened to me last week. I applied for a credit card and then they contacted me and asked for a photo of my driving licence or passport, and three selfies!!  I ended up phoning them as I started to think it was a scam - even though I'd applied using a link provided by this very forum. I asked if I had been accepted because if I hadn't, I didn't want to provide any more information.

I was assured that I had been accepted but had to still jump over a further hurdle of going to one of their branch offices to show people my original proof of ID.  I had to say that I couldn't do that because of the current lockdown and also I'm in the vulnerable group. After further discussion the adviser agreed to cancel my application and, more importantly for me, remove the hard search that was on my credit report.  The adviser (Halifax) could not have been more helpful and kind and also suggested that I try applying for a card with the bank where my current account is. Fortunately, they have an offer on for current customers so I'm going to do that, even though I believe Martin tells people to bank at different places.

So, to summarise, I'd say you probably HAVE been accepted but you need to jump through all the hoops before you get your final answer. Why not phone them to find out? It's what I had to do, I was so spooked! I did have to wait a short while to be connected but it was well worth it.

Via broker. It is the same property but my previous posts have nothing to do with the mortgage process and I deleted them in case someone finds out who I am.
Your old posts let us see if there's anything you haven't put in this one, or subsequent ones, saves asking the same questions eg who is the lender.

If you are that worried about someone finding out who you are, do not post on the internet and stick with asking your broker questions.
