This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning folks.Either we are enjoying a lie-in kind of morning or are zooming around doing tons of stuff. I'm in the lie-in category. 😀 I've been surfing around for a few hours. It'll be a weird Remembrance Sunday this year. I shall spend some time working on the WW1 burial cards project which needs a final push to get finished. It's so sad that huge numbers of these WW1 soldiers died from disease (no antibiotics), from accidents and some by suicide. We can't imagine what their life was like.My father was a regular during WW2 and did his bit in Germany, The Netherlands and the Middle East. He came home with a German wife. One of his brothers died in Italy in the Argylls. We remember them all.

I will have to go out at some point. I forgot to buy a couple of items yesterday, perhaps the rain will hold off for me.Whatever you do I hope you can all enjoy a happy Sunday.13 -
Morning Gers
Gosh its quiet on here this morning hopefully everyone is having a good lie in, I have stripped the beds this morning and got them on a hot wash its OH's job to re-make them later they will have to go in the td today as its drizzling.
Yesterday I spent an hour or so in the garden raking up leaves from next doors tree, they filled our garden wheelie bin to the top, there is still quite a lot on the tree as well so we are bound to get more, OH then mowed the lawns back and front so its all tidy for a while.
Dinner today will be roast turkeyits one of my favourite meats and we only normally have it at Xmas so we thought we would treat outselves, t will be a rehersal for xmas day, I will do enough for tomorrow too.
Will get the dogs out for a good walk today we will have to go somewhere remote though as I am having to isolate, I do need to get out for fresh air though otherwise I would go mad !!
Right better get on have good days all xx12 -

Not much to report boudoir is nearly done just choosing the finishing touches . Dinner today roast pork and all the trimmings mum will be over later for her lunch. Hello all. I'm also in the lie in category. It's wet outside today, that drizzly type of rain. It's a bit of a somber day remembering all the people who have been lost to or injured in conflict. My DGF was injured in the 1st world war and suffered for years with shrapnel in his right foot ( he wore a strange contraption and used 2 sticks) Two of his sons, my uncles, were in Burma and Mr Fix It's Dad was in Dunkirk, they all returned home safely but would never speak of what went on. They are all gone now. Dad thank goodness missed the war, but was called up afterwards for national service. I watched the Remembrance programme last night and I am watching the service this morning at the Cenotaph. Both always bring a lump to my throat.I'm having a quiet day and doing as little as possible so I hope others have a good day too.Take care and stay safe today.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting us off. It's foggy, damp and miserable here and doing nothing to lift my spirits. I had a disturbed night by some noises and couldn't nod off again. Eventually I dozed off but not for long enough. So a Slothful Sunday is on the agenda for me.
I have a chicken breast joint out to cook for my lunch which I will do with an assortment of veg and roasties. Making sure I have plenty of leftovers to warm up tomorrow.
Three more pressies were delivered yesterday to add to the growing mountain. A delivery from Lakeland is imminent too. I'll get there eventually! DS and his DP stopped by for a doorstep exchange yesterday - to pick up his DP's birthday present and give me a lovely bouquet of flowers. Just to cheer me up, which they did! Then DD called in after work and, as we form a bubble, she was allowed over the threshold so it was nice to have someone to talk to after days of solitary confinement. We couldn't have made these times up could we.
My grocery delivery was all p & c, nothing missing or subbed. The freezers are now well stocked again. Plus a few more goodies found their way on to my list to add to my Christmas supplies. I just need to keep my greedy mitts off them now! Have a good day folks and hope you have better weather than hereabouts. ((HUGS)) for all in need of them take care and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning
Add me to the the lazy lie in group in fact according to my watch I managed nearly 10hours which is a first for years for me.
Need to sort out a new washing machine today after my current one has decided that spinning isn't importantI don't have taff skills of taking it apart and repairing so Im afraid as an essential item it will have to be replaced. Really could do without the expense atm but needs must.
Two excitements for today .....I got a charity bag through the door and even better its one that takes anything not just clothes. They may regret that decision when they see the amount I plan to leave for themIts the PDSA which I support anyway so hopefully they can get some dosh from my junk. Second excitement is a cheeky Sainsbury delivery this afternoon. I edited last night so I won't be doubling up on anything after all and replaced with some preps for Christmas and a bunch of flowers just because Im worth it
Dinner tonight will be a hot turkey sandwich in crusty bread with gravy and roast pots ...rubes its my favourite meat too
Have a peaceful sunday all14 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
I'm another one being lazy, we have roast lamb for lunch apart from that I'm planning dog walks and crochet.
Have a good day everyone.

Obviously it's a lazy Sunday for most of us.
I've been watching the scenes from the Cenotaph as usual. Being born before the war I remember only too well living with the fear and anxiety, in and out of air raid shelters, the sound of the siren and the 'All Clear', the warnings in school to be especially kind to this or that child because their Daddy had been reported killed or missing. My own Dad spent most of the war in this country and the last part in Burma.
I consider it a privilege to have lived through that time. I am always supremely grateful for a peaceful life. Even lockdown doesn't phaze me.
At the moment I have next doors washing spinning in my machine, as their's has just bitten the dust. I must go and take it out. Other than that I have some cooked chicken and bacon in the fridge that I only have to mix into a tin of condensed mushroom soup, sling some scones, pastry or crumble topping on, and voila! Lunch.
I love lazy Sundays.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Good evening all from mehefinland
A strange day. The first time in over 20 years that I have been unable to attend the act of remembrance at our War memorial. Covid regs meant only 30 could attend. I stood back so that service personnel etc could go. Watched it from London on the tv. very moving. had a weepy eye.
Will go on Wednesday at 1100 instead.
Take care all. stay safe
