Search doing something very strange...

I've obviously missed one of the Sun email comps, so I searched the email address.
60 pages of results, randomly ordered including some from 2015, 2009 etc.
Realised I needed to take off the Search sub-categories and threads, but still showing pages of randomly ordered and some expired comps, so something odd going on behind the scenes.
This leads me to ask, will we be able to order search results after they've finished their snagging list?

The random order of search results was first reported 21st July, and on 3rd August MSE said we had to live with it.

The problem with the sub-categories button was first reported 23rd September, then it got much worse and was re-reported on 19th October. MSE have not responded at all.

The other fault is that Search is only updating once per day. This was reported 24th September and again there has been no response from MSE.

The best way of currently getting anything like sensible results from Search is to:
1) De-select "replies" and "polls"
2) In the "date within" box select from the drop down menu (1 week/2 weeks/1 month/2 months work best)
3) put today in the last box labelled "of"

As an example, the link below is for the last 2 weeks of sun email comps (8 comps) - click on it and see how the boxes are filled in

I added this fault onto the chat thread about things we wanted, which was requested, in response to the petition . I put it as high impact so hopefully they’ll fix it (being as it was ok before!) I’d got used to using the search to comp, now even that doesn’t work properly

Thanks for adding it to the thread.
I'd got used to a search that worked when adding comps, so it's frustrating, not to mention extra work for our BGs, when we've searched extensively and we're still duping.
I guess that frustration's why many of our posters have gone elsewhere.  I'm noticing quite a few comps I used to enter from here simply aren't being posted any more. Very sad as this was once an active and vibrant forum- the best out there.

Search seems to be behaving itself.  I'm getting sensible result when using the search box at top of page

Still rather bizarre here.
For example, this morning I searched competitions@insidesoap to see if issue 46 has been posted yet.
The default search and therefore your initial result has 54 pages of results. The first page includes competitions from 2009 through several past years to current day.
Getting rid of "Search sub categories," "Replies" and "Polls" initially looks more manageable, but it still 54 pages long and including old comps in Game over.
Repeatedly tried to exclude "Search sub categories," but search seems to be ignoring this command.

and type  inside soap       in 'search forum' box (at top),   it brings up most of their competitions, but failed to bring up issue 46.  I'm sure that this issue has been posted though.

It has stopped behaving again.

Earlier I searched using a website address and an organised list appeared of recent comps posted, then tried a keyword and again a logical list appeared. Just tried again and it pulls up a total load of rubbish
