Furlough not an option

Hello,
It is a bit unclear to me what my company decided to do so hopefully someone can explain if it's right. The company I work for has closed 4 out of 5 premises (hotels) in the town where I live and left the one I am based at opened. Now, all the 4 other sites team's are on Job Retention Scheme up to the 13th of November and get 90% of their wage and afterwards 80% as Furlough. Now, everyone at my site has to come to work (the employer said that there is work still and can't choose to Furlough) as all the bookings from the other 4 sites have been transferred here, which means we are busier than ever and we have no staff due to self-isolation among the team. We tried to ask for help from other sites but they happily took the Furlough option and do not care. Is there anything legally the company can be picked up on as to me it does not seem fair that some do not help and they take 90% for staying home while others get 100% and work but then there is travel cost money and so on for those attending work.

No. You are being paid for the work you do1

Moaning because you have a job, this forum gets worse.4

Your employer can take people off furlough and call them in if needed.
If you are short staffed, then your line manager should be addressing this. What have they said? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

You do your job to the best of your ability and you get paid. Let management worry about staffing issues, that’s their concern.1

Your job is still there and you are expected to do it. Nothing has changed from before. Would you normally expect to be paid more if the hotel is busy, and accept reduced pay any time the hotel is less busy?

The difference is that let's say where I work there are a specific number of people (staff) for a specific number of guests based on H&S risks. Now we have 1 person to deal with 200 people + when in fact it is required to have 3 people. I hope that makes sense.bradders1983 said:Moaning because you have a job, this forum gets worse.
Yes, it is my right to defend my dignity and be appreciated for the work I am doing, not the to disrespected and treated unfairly?0 -
The company haven’t done anything wrong I’m afraid. Whilst you feel irked by that (rightly or wrongly depending on opinions) it has happened.
I can appreciate resentment to a point but there is work to be done, and it has always been the case that if there was work to be done then furlough wasn’t an option. We’re still in for a bumpy ride going forward and it really is a better position to be in with a full wage coming in.0 -

Where does "dignity" and "appreciated for the work I am doing" come into this?
Your contract with your employer is you work and they pay. Don't expect anything more and you won't be disappointed. Most employees could claim they were or have been treated unfairly if they thought about it.
Just do your job to the best of your ability and report any concerns about staffing levels logically and unemotionally to your line manager. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1 -
I personally understand both sides, if someones working a job where their colleagues are on furlough it can seem unfair. (i do empthasise 'seem' though)
I can see and understand that, but it has caveats. People who (even through no fault of their own) are in receipt of a level of pay and aren't able to do anything productive are, thanks to the 'nothing comes for free' nature of the world, in a nasty situation in their own right - their situation is not sustainable and I expect there will be a lot of people who don't make it back to the office ultimately.
You are not being devalued because others are on furlough.
