Working while getting sick pay

I've been signed off work for the past 8 weeks due to a bad back, and will be signed off again next week but unsure for how long as I am awaiting a steroid injection.
The only thing stopping me going back to work now is that I can't drive to work due to the excruciating pain that shoots down my right leg when I sit in the car while hubby is driving.
So I could do a few hours working from home but I'm unsure if that would be allowed while being paid sick pay.
Can anyone point me in the right direct for advice please as I am desperate to get back to some normality and also can't survive on sick pay for too much longer when hubby is on minimum wage as it is.
Many thanks.

You could ask your employer for a phased return.1

Are you on statutory sick pay, or some sort of company sick pay arrangement?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1

Yes it is. You doctor could suggest this as an adjustment on your fit note (i.e. sick note). Although an employer is not obliged to follow the doctor's suggestion they may well.Dawn1966 said:I've been signed off work for the past 8 weeks due to a bad back, and will be signed off again next week but unsure for how long as I am awaiting a steroid injection.

Yes on SSP, thanks.Marcon said:Are you on statutory sick pay, or some sort of company sick pay arrangement?
Ok thank you, and do you know if I would still continue getting the full £95 or so SSP, or would it be reduced. I would only be able to manage a couple of hours a day as I find it hard to sit for too long also. (I'm a secretary).Undervalued said:Yes it is.
