I'm glad you have a date as you now know where you stand.
Hopefully Christmas will give you all time to relax and recharge your batteries.

December payday came around a little early, so I've already done some shuffling. Plus we closed our H2B ISA due to aiming for pre-christmas completion, so that cheque is in and clear. Phew! Our deposit pot actually has £37 more than needed in there, but I am loathe to move it out just in case.

OH got his Christmas bonus which means that we have a little money in the FF/EF pot now. We actually borrowed from the deposit pot to buy a mattress because there was a 30% off sale on Emma mattresses and accessories, but that has been returned to the pot already. We got a king size mattress, protector and 2 pillows, plus free delivery, for less than just the mattress at normal prices! We will need some bedding, but we already have some because a previous rental was a king size bed.

I originally intended to forego a bed frame as we're going to be putting Little in the 'bed' part of her cotbed when we move and it would mean we'd all be on the same level. However, I am likely to be having surgery in either January or February now and that doesn't pair well with a floor bed! So the hunt begins for the cheapest bed frame that matches my (currently undecided) vision for our bedroom.

FF is: £771.31 currently and unlikely to change now until January, unless we stumble on a really good sale!

Good luck getting a bed. The Swedish shop may be best option to get on time b4b really let me down this year - keeping me waiting for months then missing me off the delivery

Thanks for the recommendation! I had no idea where to start looking, so now I have a start point. 😊 Worst case we can just grab a cheap frame from Argos, but I'd actually like to have a grown up bed for a change. 😂 I'll be 30 in February and the only bed I've owned was a cheap divan when I first moved out at 20, the rest have been owned by landlords!

    I'd agree with the above.
Depending on the size of your new house, buy a frame that would suit a guest room?
That may make your search easier as you won't feel pressured into trying to find a forever bedframe.

Our guest bedroom already has a built in single bed and definitely wouldn't fit a king size sadly. If I struggle to find one then I can just go for cheap from Argos or IKEA etc and sell it on when I'm ready. Just like to do things right the first time, haha.

  • I've known for a while that my hourly rate will be increasing with a company I do freelance hours for and yesterday I found out what the increase is - 66%! 😳 I am absolutely over the moon as it means we can afford the Nanny to help us while I'm working and still actually earn money. 😂

OH is jealous because he worked out my 'salary' if I worked full time and it would be higher than his. 😂 Lucky for his ego, I'll only be doing part time evenings and one weekday so that I can still spend the majority of my time with Little.

We're still waiting to hear if OH is getting a promotion in January, the boss is being very tight lipped about it all so I don't think it's set in stone yet. He will get the 3% cost of living raise though, so either way we'll be getting a little more than we do now. As long as we can avoid that pesky lifestyle inflation, we'll be in a much better position to overpay when we finally move.

We're feeling rather flush though, so going to increase our individual free spend pots by £5 each! For a very decadent total of £30 each per month.🤑

Thanks @savingholmes and @Grogged! Hope you both had a good Christmas. 😊

We had a very laid back day and Little was a lot more interested in unwrapping than we expected which was a pleasant surprise. Had some video calls with family too which was fun.

Health is a bit pants at the moment (understatement of the year?) so having to rest and really trying to ignore the chaos our flat has descended into!
