Dental care for over 60s during lockdown

I have two dentists, one private who deals with my implants and an NHS one who looks after the rest of my teeth. I had an appointment on Saturday with the private one for a repair on my All on Four bridge, which was cancelled yesterday. The reason given was that they’d been told to cancel appointments for over 60s and people with existing health conditions. However I had an emergency appointment with my NHS dentist today and she said they weren’t aware of that and as far as she knew they’d be continuing to treat everyone. Does anyone know what the ruling is please?

Who has told them? 

The four countries of the UK are operating under different instructions, but all are allowing dentistry to continue. Certainly England are, and Wales have during their 'circuit break'.

it is up to practices and dentists to risk assess the service they provide though, and possibly there could be factors very local to a particular practice that have made them decide that this is the safest approach. Possibly high local infection numbers, possibly factors within the practice like space or ventilation.

there is certainly no national instruction not to see over 60s, so maybe ask the practice who has 'told' them?
