Compiling a Christmas Card List
I've just been made redundant and need to fill in my excess spare time. As it is the season of goodwill and all that I hit upon the idea of putting people's address books on a spreadsheet, producing labels for them, giving them the file to update for next year, possibly even writing the cards, they just need to sign them, getting the stamps and posting them for them? Is it a bit late do you think? I put my own Christmas Card list on labels a couple of years ago and it's fantastic. One of those things you think you will do and never do! How much do you reckon I should charge? Would you pay someone to do this? I hope to get another job fairly soon, so this is a fill in for a couple of weeks. What about a present wrapping service too? I could do both. How do you think I should promote this? I thought of window ads and supermarket noticeboards. I don't feel I have anything to lose over this - any feedback would be welcome.

TBH I would not pay someone to write cards for me, the cards would lose all of the personal touch I think especially with printed labels. Printed labels look too businesslike.
Present wrapping, well I guess some people hate doing that, but I cannot imagine hoards of people paying for the service, I think most do it because they have to. Finally there is the logistics of doing it, moving gifts around, keeping your activities secret etc i.e. no kids see you delivery wrapped presents.0 -
moving on slightly but on the same sort of principle what about a reminder service, say you set up a spreadsheet, birthdays, anniversaires etc,and you email the person a week b4 so they can get a card,
they could put card only, gift voucher, present, set a time schedule when they need reminding, you could either do the reminding as an email or a text.
If somebody did that for me would be a god send. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

It's a nice idea but most of the online card shops already offer this service free so I'm not sure how much of a demand there would be.0 -
I know what you mean about lacking the personal touch, but I am talking about people who are perhaps cash rich but time poor, of which there are many in my affluent area. I get lots of Xmas cards with typed labels and I always think it smacks of an organised person, not a lazy one! I know lots of working mums who juggle all sorts of tasks and to find the time to sit down undisturbed, write out loads of cards, write out the addresses, get the stamps etc is time they don't necessarily have, or its the last thing they want to do. I am targetting people who are happy to pay someone to make their life a little easier and less stressful coming up to Christmas.
More feedback welcome!0 -
data protection too, if people trust you with lists of names and addresses, wouldnt you need to have somekind of safeguard?? but i like your idea, i think it shows inspirationtotally debt free:j and mortgage free too 20100
