Thank you Unholyangel.
There was nothing in a durable medium, nothing apart from the poorly written quote, which wasn't even dated. Please don't shout at me0 -
Sorry, I didn't mean to finish the post like that! It was my other half dealing with this 'trader' who believed him on his word. And it's me who is trying to sort it all out. There was just a poorly written quote, and the expected terms and conditions never arrived. Which is why we are asking if he can add on terms, and demand fees, when he seems to be a complete cowboy.Arthurspike said:Thank you Unholyangel.

Out of curiosity, how did Trading Standards become involved? You don't say you contacted them, but that the trader emailed them with information. Why did he do that? And did they actually give you any advice? They rarely deal with individual cases today.(One of the reasons I'm interested is that many many many years ago I was a trainee TS inspector and I often like to know how they operate these days. They were useless back in the 80s)1

Trading standards are informed via a triage system by citizens advice. They aren't being very helpful. They have contacted the trader because he is telling trading standards lies. TS asked him about the extra added on fees for the non existent contract, and he has told them that he's keeping / demanding £900. But the email the trader sent to us failed to mention a figure. Filling in the blanks after he's told us. Trading standards also already know of him with another part of his business, which is endorsed under a trusted trader scheme. And another case of someone else taking him to court. If we had known about other business names / pseudonyms , we would never have gone near him.Manxman_in_exile said:Out of curiosity, how did Trading Standards become involved? The more it's allowed to happen without question, the more it will happen.Arthurspike said:
Bit of an unnecessary comment really.prettywowers said:Trader adding fee's.
OP adding unnecessary apostrophe's.
Sigh.
Do you really want to live in a world where we simply accept that any word with an "s" at the end has an apostrophe added without reason?
That path, my friend, is the road to anarchy.0
