Pumice stones - a great help with limescale.

Hi, I knew pumice stones could be used with removing limescale from a loo but discovered last week that it is also great for removing limescale around the lid of an electric kettle. I had cleaned the inside with vinegar leaving the contents in for several hours before emptying it and rinsing well. I had tried absolutely everything to remove this hard scale and this worked immediately so hopefully it will help someone else..

I had a flask which was absolutely caked in a decade or more's worth of thick limescale which was as thick as a knife blade. I filled the flask with vinegar and left it for several days. After 2-3 days, the limescale had been eaten away to the extent that the remaining lining could be scraped off with a wooden skewer. After around 5 minutes of scraping, all the limescale was off and could be rinsed away. I then filled the flask with a sodium bicarbonate and water mix to counter any residual vinegar. I left it in this solution for a day before rinsing out, after which the flask was as good as new.0
