DELIVERING MEDICINE

Hi Folks
I want to get medicine (prescribed by the doctor) to my daughter who is living away and at university.
Can someone advise the best method to do that?
Thank You

Do you already have the medicine or who has the prescription?

My scripts are sent electronically to my nominated chemist. Is your doctor able to do this. I’m not aware of out of area limitations so not sure if possible

It may depend on what the   medicine is.  You can send it through Royal Mail by Special Delivery. There are packaging requirements so you would ned to check on the website.
It would be better to have a prescription sent to her to take to a local chemist.
or, the GP surgery can send  a script by fax to a nominated chemist. They will also need to send the script through the post to the chemist as a follow up but the chemist will dispense from the fax.

  • Not all meds can be posted. Some are restricted.

Is there any reason she hasn't registered with a local practice? The current practice will send a list of meds on repeat prescription or she can use her repeat prescription slip to get started.

Various ways of doing this some already mentioned above.
Most surgeries can now send prescriptions electronically to any pharmacy in the country via EPS. A local chemist near her or the prescription office at the GP practice can advise the best way of arranging this.
