Extended Warranty (LCD TV)

I am thinking of buying a LCD TV from Amazon.
They give you 12 months guarantee from the start, and I could have a extended warranty for 2 years £36.99 or 3 years £55.99 or 5 years £102.99.
Is it worth having one of these warranties, what are everyones views.
The TV is £500 pound

In a word no, John Lewis give all their TVs a free 5 year warranty, prices may be a tad higher though. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Shop around but bear in mind this tale. A work-mate bought a huge plasma Tv 18 months ago. Last week it stopped working. TV enginner came out and told them if it was he thought it was £200. He said that these type of TVs use so much power to run that some of the internal components aren't up to the job.
I'd never buy an extended warranty...but I may be swayed towards a retailer who chucked them in "for free"0 -
I've just ordered an LCD tv from Empire Direct and if you buy their ExExtra card which costs £20 you get 3 years warranty on the TV and on anything else you buy costing more than £200 during the next year.
Good deal I thought. Especially as their prices are very competitive anyway.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0
