Contact Lens Cost

Hi Everybody,
I am hoping somebody can help me with this. I have an eye condition (Keratoconus) and see the hospital every 3 months. On my last check-up the Consultant said he wanted to try some soft contact lenses to go under my RGP lenses.
I have received 3 lenses (Biofinity) and a bill for £57 which I think is quite high as the lenses themselves are only £30 at most online for 6 lenses.
The new lenses have a standard prescription.
I have spoken to the hospital and they said their hands are tied as the government has set the price to £57.
I am guessing I just have to lump it but I don't want to be paying £57 every 3 months for these lenses which would cost £228 over a year when it should be at most £60.
Does anybody have an experience with this and is there another way?

Once the prescription has been agreed by your consultant, you are then free to buy anywhere you want. Im thinking this is a trial at the moment , you may not stay with this exact prescription.0

Hi,Thanks for your reply.I checked with the hospital yesterday and they said they would prefer I didnt go elsewhere so they can ensure its the correct lens and they can then monitor it.I have to pay the first £57 so I will pay that and then I will discuss further with my consultant on my next appointment.0
