I've been in a care home for 11 months waiting for my house to be made wheelchair proof. After being made paralysed last summer, I'm 46.
I have a nice big room with en suite, management came in this morning to tell me I was been moved to a different room tomorrow .
Which is small and no en suite, so id have to share a bathroom. (which sounds horrible as I have bladder and bowel issues)
Can they do this, with one day warning?

Thanks

Really sorry to hear about your paralysis last year.

I think the care home can move you to another room because you are only a temporary resident there for respite while your own home is being converted. If you were more permanent I don't think they would be able to move you quite so easily, nor would they want to.

Is there any way you could try to get the people converting your home to get a move on? Eleven months is a really long time, it shouldn't be taking that long for them to convert it for a wheelchair user.

Although the home may genuinely need your lovely room (it does sound nice) for an incoming permanent resident, they may also be trying (in a very unsubtle way) to get you to try to encourage you to take action about your own home.

I would definitely get on to whoever is working on your home to work faster!
