Prescription glasses - thinner lenses

I am eligible for a free eye test in Scotland. It is normally every two years but, because of family history of glaucoma, I can have a free rest every year.
In addition to this I am not eligible for any means tested benefit or voucher but, with such a 'high/strong' prescription, I am eligible to receive a non means tested voucher/contribution from NHS (the optician deducts this from the final cost) once every two years to be used towards the cost of the thinned lenses. I can't remember the value of this voucher but I think it is quite a lot and makes a difference to the final cost - so it is a good help.
I don't know what my prescription is but it is 'strong' and, without thinned lenses, I would have very thick lenses.
I'm sorry I don't know if this non means tested contribution towards the cost is available outside Scotland. I hope you have some success.
