Sick Of Being Unable To Get Credit

I'm really fed up, Our TV died the other week so of I headed to currys, Saw a TV I liked at £299 I thought I would pay on finance but declined, And the most frustrating thing is the advisor made it sound like a sure thing I was getting this TV, Infact he had even called another member of staff over to give me a hand with the TV, so imagine my embarrasement when it came back declined.I mean I have Sky, I have Electric, I have 2 phones, bills all paid on time, yes I had bad credit a few years back 5 or so, but I'm still suffering, I applied for a Capital one sub prime credit card the other month again declinded.Its just so annoying, I can't save money, nver have been able to, I live from one weeks pay to the next, however after having problems in the past I always pay on time now but no one will give me a chance,What do I have to do to get credit? I got my credit report of garlik and checkmyfile it says my credit score is 459 = It will be unlikely you will be unable to obtain credit, there are 3 credit searches in the past year,

    Hi there

    are you on the electoral roll? This makes a big difference to applications. Also, if any of the debt in the past went to default or CCJ you'll struggle for 6 years.

    Why not join freecycle and see if there are any TV's going or alternatively you'll get a bog standard 28 inch one (not LCD, freeview installed etc etc) for about £100 or so these days from the supermarket - Asda had one for £110 a few months back.

    It might also be your income - if you are paying your bills, but have nothing left, it might be a 'no' due to you not having the available salary to support the credit youare applying for.

    Why not pop up a Statement of Affairs and we can see if we can help trim any money so you can save for a new one over 2 or 3 months.

    I must be wierd, but I LOVE the fact that I cant get any more credit, or as I prefer to call it, debt.

    If we need anything, we have to save for it, or do without.
    Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:

    I was like that, but it wore thin when I couldn't get vaious things like a bank account,BBand etc etc, yes I have a default

    We now have defaults too hun, and unfortunately, a mortgage on variable rate !!!

    Luckily, we got broadband just before it all went belly up, and we have a current account.

    My biggest fear is what we'll do if the car dies :eek:
    Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:

    The default is more than likelythe problem. I had 2 plus a satisfied CCJ at my 'worst' and couldn't get anything.

    If you are still struggling for a bank account, try Nat West and the Step account, although there is a list somewhere on MSE of all the accounts you'll find it pretty easy to be accepted with.

    i can empathise.im the same but still paying off debts.
    credit is a no no.
    i can get by on most things but for example it would be good to get a decent reliable car and pay the finance over buying bangers or having no car as i am just now.
    but hey nothing i can do bar pay off the debts and deal with what i can get

  • Do you have any other cards etc? The amount of credit you ALREADY ave can also effect any new credit.

    Getting credit is going to become increasingly difficult for many people over the next months (years??). Look at Libor: if banks are reluctant to lend to each other, why the hell should they lend to just anybody (with a pulse). The credit binge does seem as though it's over; I see a massive 'reset' coming:eek: I don't see this as necessarily bad either...
    BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? :shocked: OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
