Working from home tax relief - start date before 23rd of March

I'm about to put in my claim for the working from home tax relief as detailed here:
I'm a little confused about the start date though. Although the official date that lockdown started seems to be the 23rd of March, my company closed the office and required us all to work from home from the 17th of March (which as I remember was the day after the government started advising it). The site above says you can claim from the 23rd and seems to indicate it's more complicated if you claim for before that - "For claims before 23 March 2020, you don’t automatically get the whole tax year".
Will I complicate matters if I enter the 17th of March as the date I started working from home or should I just enter the 23rd? Does it even matter either way?
Thanks in advance!

Given the tax year starts in April....0

For the 2019/2020 tax year relief was allowed at £4/ week, which equates to 80p/ week for a basic rate taxpayer and £1.60/ week if you pay higher rate tax. Up to you whether you want to bother with claiming for a couple of pounds (literally).0

You put the date you started working from home.
Doing it via the portal is simple.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
I did mine from 18.03.20 and my tax code was updated within 2 days.0

Put in the day you started working from home. Mine was the 18th and went through with no problems.0

Well this is interesting. I applied at the end of May, but forgot all about it, and nothing's changed / no check received. So I've just re-applied, which is when I did some back checking and remembered the May application. Let's see if that works ... or if they even contact me!Signature removed for peace of mind0
