Valuation for engagement ring (Antique Solitaire Diamond 0.5ct 18ct gold platinum)

Hi All,
The better half has found an antique engagement ring she loves however it is over my budget so I am intending to go in and try and negotiate a better deal.  Before I do though I am interested to know what a fair value would be for the ring and would be grateful for any advice at all!
The ring is described as an Antique Solitaire Diamond 0.5ct 18ct gold platinum ring and can be seen below.  The ticket price is £1,550.00 which is well over my budget.  If anyone has any advice on what a fair value should be for the ring and also what if anything I should check / look for when I go to the jewellers, I will be most grateful.

I don't think anyone could give you a fair value without knowing at least the colour of the diamond or the clarity.

A colour D (the best) IF (internally flawless) .5 carat would be exponentially more expensive than a colour J SI diamond of the same size.

Is the .5 carat the main stone or does that include what looks like smaller stones on the shoulders?

Is it a real antique?

Does it have a year hallmark?

Old diamonds tend not to be as well cut as those nowadays so don't always have the lustre.

I have an old .5 carat solitaire that is rose cut and it isn't as sparkly as my brilliant cut one.
