I am just finding it a bit unbelievable that I have to make that decision without knowing the full picture as this isn't the case with other pensions I have
The Pru isn't going to spend the time calculating the value of individual policies, Whenever somebody wants to know. As far as they are concerned you've a policy that provides a benefit on a predetermined date. Time has to be paid for.

From reading here and my personal experience in last company with a DB pension, many companies will do one free evaluation like this per year (and it takes a fair time) and then charge for subsequent. OPs mileage may of course be different.

Nothing new under the MSE sun....... :)

    I found this thread
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3171510/c-a-pension

which may well be of interest to the OP.

It seems that the Pru used to bend over backwards to be helpful........
The number I gave is especially for C&A pension enquiries.
They send you the quote by mail. (They go through it in great detail), I was unsure about some of the terminology so I called them and they were so helpful.

But of course we do now have the universal excuse (beginning with C.....).
