From reading here and my personal experience in last company with a DB pension, many companies will do one free evaluation like this per year (and it takes a fair time) and then charge for subsequent. OPs mileage may of course be different.

which may well be of interest to the OP.
It seems that the Pru used to bend over backwards to be helpful........The number I gave is especially for C&A pension enquiries.
They send you the quote by mail. (They go through it in great detail), I was unsure about some of the terminology so I called them and they were so helpful.But of course we do now have the universal excuse (beginning with C.....).
