Nintendo Switch Joycon Drift- Nintendo want to charge me for cosmetic repairs I don't want

My daughters Nintendo has started to suffer from the dreaded joy con drift. I heard that Nintendo no repair it out of warranty so I sent the joy cons off to them. Then I hear back that they can fix the joy con drift problem for free :-) but also want to repair  some 'cosmetic damage' that they will charge me for :-( I have told them I only want the drift repaired but they are refusing to do so without fixing the other problem that I wasn't even aware of. Are they trying to cash in? Thanks in advance.

Not so- the warranty should make no difference to this particular issue. Its an out of warranty automatic fix now, Nintendo have said so themselves. I would post links but I'm a newbie here.
