O/S Daily Monday 26 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Still dark, and air feels cool.
Lunch yesterday was lovely - the pork cooked well, we do have some LO's - so that will become another meal. Tonight menfolk are having chicken and ham kievs, chips and beans, I'm having fishcakes and veg.
Back to work today we'll see how that goes and what's been happening whilst I've been on my days' off.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, dry and cold here. Thanks for starting NMLC.I haven't posted for a day or two, as my old friend the bladder infection reared its nasty head again, so I haven't been too grand. However, antibiotics are working, and I feel a bit better. The dr tells me to drink plenty of fluid, and I know that this is essential, but I'm bursting with fluid sometimes I drink so much !!I went out yesterday for shopping. DH took me to L8dl, I like it there, then the rest of the day was just spent at home. It was cold and windy but bright enough. This morning I'll go and collect a jacket that I'd taken for dry cleaning - our cobblers take dry cleaning in which is handy. It's on our main street, so not far. We used to have a Co-op dry cleaners but that closed ages ago.I really ought to make a birthday card or two, there are a couple of family birthdays coming up. If I start going through my card making stuff it'll make me want to do them. I seem to make such a mess though, once I start!Hope everyone is all right, and staying safe - the word last week was that we might go into tier 3. but it hasn't happened.Anyway, I'll stop waffling and hope evryone has a good day today, take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Hope today is uneventful for you back at work. A damp start here and now the rain has finally found us it seems it's going to be the story of the week. I knew we would pay eventually!
This cat is driving me mad since the clock change, it seems to have totally upset her whole body clock. I am thinking of changing her name to Billy Cotton as she has been playing Wakey Wakey with me most of the night! She is now curled up asleep, fed and watered, whilst I feel like a wet rag.
So another day of same old same old. Nowhere to go nobody to see. Jobs await but will they get done, there is always tomorrow!
It's also a no cooking day as plenty of gammon and l/o veg from yesterday for my dinner. The usual lunch of hm soup and a ham salad wrap. After a morning of aimlessness I will be back under my heated throw this afternoon, engrossed in my book.
I hope you all have a more interesting day than me. We may get news today of movement up into Tier 3 though that won't affect me anyway as I am not in the habit of visiting gyms, casinos, soft play areas, bars etc. ((HUGS)) for all in need of them, take care and stay sane and safe xx

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I lost yesterday as I was really dizzy, hopefully we will move into the marina next weekend so no more clambering over the lock gates to walk Beano. I cooked a roast dinner but couldn't eat it, still Steve enjoyed it, I'll make curry with the leftovers and if I still can't eat it, it will go in the freezer.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning all.SCARLET - sorry about your miserable time. At least the ABs are helping.TA - yep...it's the nowhere to go which is getting to me. I'm definitely fed up shopping! My job today is to pack up the laptop from my part part time job which comes to an end soon. It was such a useless machine anyway I never used it much, only to connect to the office network to load up files. One less thing to dust!
I've been lying awake listening to my audiobook, it's much more an enjoyable experience than I imagined it to be. Perhaps I'll carry on with the subs. I tried Netflix but didn't take to it at all.Now it's time to wish everyone a happy Monday 🌞 despite all the restrictions.13 -
Morning all, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Cold here and it has started raining again but at least I heard an owl - it was still dark so I didn't see it.
TA I too am waiting for a tier 3 announcement, I was surprised that we are only in tier 2 really. The infection rate here has been high. It isn't likely to make much difference to my day to day life as, oddly, I don't spend much time in casinos either.
I really need to do some housework but don't much want to, I will do the bare minimum and just hope we don't expire from dust. I will probably get my enthusiasm back when it is really too cold to be outside.
Nanny I think I managed to miss your anniversary, oops.
Scarlet, hope you feel a lot better soon.
Hope today is kind to everyone.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all another groundhog day for me still no results so i am getting seriously peed off the best of it is we are tier 1 so i could go to the casino if i wanted too. DH is working from home but will be off to do the shopping this afternoon just a quick trip to Aldi for bread and milk and a few veg . Dinner tonight whatever i can be bothered to cook which isn't looking too promising right now. Right going to pull my socks up and do some housework in a minute after a cuppa .
Scarlet hope you feel better soon
TA a nana nap later sounds in order
HH hope the dizziness goes soon its an awful feeling
Right have a good day one and all x

Morning all
Nice bright day here but very cold, it rained all day yesterday apart from an hour or so while we walked the dogs we were very lucky as it started pouring again as we came in, fire was lit and a cosy afternoon was had.
DD has an online meeting this morning and then we will get the dogs out for a run and then I think she has to go somewhere for another meeting.
Left over roast tonight so it will just need re-heating in the oven it was very tasty so Im looking forward to it. Yesterday I had to darn a bed sheet as it had two tears in it just from age I think, sewing is really not my thing at all and it looks awful so I need to order a couple of new ones today, as I have noticed a new tear statring this morning , the old one will go to the shed for a dust sheet so wont be wasted.
Hester I hope you feel better soon xx
Have good days all xx10 -
Morning all, surprise, surprise it's raining again ! Might go to showers later if we're lucky though, it's looks to be a another wet week aheadI had a lovely day yesterday chilling and watched a lot of films including the Secret Garden and the new Robin Hood movie, I enjoyed the latter more, it had a bit more "go" in it, but I gave up trying to watch the 4 children and it film.Today I have already put a load in the wm, don't think it will have a chance of drying outside but I'll see later. After coffee time I shall strip the bed, whether the bedding will get washed today is another story and then clean upstairs, the bed will be remade later.Mr Fix It will hopefully get through to the car insurance people today as we have a lot of insurances to sort out this week, I am hoping we can get them a bit cheaper than their quotes 'cos every little helps.Tea tonight ? I'll have to find a new game to play, this "whats for tea" game is getting boring....... how about a bit of Roulette instead ?
I still have some of Saturday's beef in the fridge, perhaps I can make something different from that, maybe some sweet and sour shredded beef.
Right enough from the welsh waffler for today and I've just noticed that I'm up an hour earlier than normal, guess who forgot to alter her bedside clock.... doh !! What a wally ! Never mind extra awake time for me to create more mayhem. Now Sparkle isn't the only one the hour has upset TAScarlett hope the anti b's work their magic.AOD no problem, you can catch me next year I hopeTake care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Good morning all,Just got drenched dogwalking and now there is a hint of 'eau de large wet dog' in the air.TA she is also unhappy with the clocks & keeps giving me a hard stare when she thinks it should be a meal timeJust looked at my meal planner and it ended yesterday so I've just taken some sandwich steaks out. that'll be quick tonight.Hester hope your dizziness goes, I had a spell of it a couple of weeks ago but had been having a bit of earache , turned my stomach too, bit like being carsick. Not much else to say. like all of us I suppose
I did think about going on the bus to town but it's half term so it might have been busier than normal, then with the weather being horrible I discounted that idea.
Scarlet I want to make some cards too, I'm running out now but I 've lost my get up and go somehow.Hope your infection goes soon.DS took all the new bedding and duvets up to his house yesterday so that's freed up some space hereI need to get to grips with our bedroom today, it seems to have become a dumping ground. I'll just drink the coffee DS1 has made me and browse the digital newspaper first....take care all x
