Not receiving contracted hours

Hello all, just writing because I really need advice for my current situation. I am contracted 30 hours a week, yet I am barely receiving 18 hours a week right now. To make matters worse, I am over £1000 deep into buying my first house. I am starting to feel myself scraping the pennies together right now, and I just don't feel it is good enough!
The lack of hours are either due to incompetence with the rotas, but they have also hired a load of new staff recently, and I believe it is happening to quite a few people now. Regarding incompetence, when pointing out a mistake with my shifts, I had a shift taken away and was told "you won't make up your hours now, but we won't give you anymore I'd have to completely redo the rota!" I wasn't making up the hours that week anyway, I had 22! It's like I was punished for their error on the rotas.
I have no idea what to do about this, I have been polite and understanding because I do not want to rock the boat with my employer up until now, but I honestly just want to storm in there and scream at them. I've been left with £100 for the next 2 weeks without dipping into my house savings, and it's making me so anxious and really just doesn't look good on my part for lenders! Can anyone help?

    Are you in a union?
I assume you have more than 2 years service otherwise you have limited options.
You might want your house purchase to go through before you kick anything off.

Start by asking why you have not been paid for your contracted hours and ask for the money. Your employers are in breach of contract. If you don't get anywhere raise a grievance.
If that fails you are looking at the small claims court or simply accepting it.

It sounds as if your job is not as secure as you'd like it to be, I know you've spent £1000 but it might be time to conisder if the house purchase is right thing to do right now.  If you keep getting given 18 hours how will you pay your mortgage and all your bills?

My partner earns a lot more than me, so we are sorted on that front. At the moment I'm just trying to live and save as much money as possible for things like furniture, curtains etc. All money that is needed for deposit and fees are sorted. Once we are in, it is not much more than the rent we are paying now for a 1 bed flat.

I have copies of all the rotas, and of my contract stating 30 hours a week. Unfortunately I am not in a union, but I will be looking at all options once I am moved.

I was of the understanding that you are only able to request the money if you are on a salaried contract, which I am not. If I am wrong, can someone please explain how this works?

What does your employment of contract say with regards to contracted hours not being met. May well stipulate the the time will be unpaid. Likewise does your contract guarantee you a minimum number of paid hours.

Don't wait, join now. Usually a union will not be able to help you with any issue until you've been a member for a short period. You're just pushing the date at which they'll help you into the future.

But you now seem to be unclear: are you contracted to work 30 hours per week, or are you on a zero hours contract? As requested, what does your contract actually say? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'a salaried contract'?

I am contracted 30 hours a week, however right now they are treating me like its zero hours. I have been told I am not needed this weekend, and to not come in.
My contract is one a4 sheet of paper, it doesn't really detail anything just start date and hours contracted.

You now need to be proactive and raise this issue officially. If you are on a 30 hour contract you're entitled to the hours.
