Payslip Forms - Are these needed?

The majority of my payslips have always been digital, normally these are emails to me as companies these days try to save on paper wastage. I've never really made too much of an effort to ensure I print these out, and especially over the last year with covid and homeworking it wouldn't even be a possibility anymore. But I'm wondering what effect that this will have in the future? Other than for tax purposes is there any need for keeping a paper record of payslips?
The only thing that I could think of is with pension (which is many many years away for me!) But, will I need some sort of record to show that I paid a certain amount to a company, or is this done through HMRC?
Also with how digital everything is these days, will everyone be in the same place as me? I'm not sure I know anyone who saves their payslips - definitely not more than a year at most?

Can't you save them off as PDFs? The only time I've been asked for payslips (most recent 6 months worth) was for a mortgage application. I do save all of my husband's as I've needed them going back more than a year when there has been issues with his tax and with reconciling his expenses which are reimbursed via payroll. PDF files don't take up any room! Paper P60s and P11Ds I've kept going back for years and notice of coding for at least half a dozen.

The most vital thing to keep is the P60 for each year, plus any P45s when you change jobs, but I download mine each month and save it both on my personal drive at work, and on our Google drive at home.Signature removed for peace of mind0

you can print them and keep them as pdf as already mentioned above. you may need the free recent ones as proof of income and proof of employment when renting a property.
pension contributions should be recorded with your pension scheme.0 -
Yes of course you are right. OP Until you don't receive payslips...period, end off. We're meant to receive payslips with reminding holiday on but clearly that was a joke. Last payslip received Feb 2020. Last P60 issued by email a few months later. I use to keep paper stuff for years, but my only reassurance I was being paid correctly was when applying for a short term loan and quoted salary in online application and some think it is mightly unfortunate they have to keep some paperwork.... Erm how the other half live...0
