Private tutoring

Is it possible to make a full-time living as a private tutor? I have an MA in English Literature and psychoanalysis, and a degree in history. I'm sure you can earn a bit on the side as a private tutor, but does anyone do it as a full-time living?

i think it would be difficult to get full time work as a tutor. i found a lot of kids also recruit tutors from school as teachers often do private tutoring to top up their salary.
you would need to join an agency and they would take commission so you wouldn't end up with a huge amount of money.0 -
If you live near tv studios then its probably doable as they use private tutors to meet the education/licencing conditions.
If you mean extra curricular then the problem you have is there are not many hours available to earn the money when kids are not at school0 -
But you're not a qualified teacher and you don't appear to have any teaching experience. Why would a parent engage you in preference to someone who could offer both of those attributes?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
