Last Christmas I bought each of my kids a 2GB MP3 player from my local Aldi store. Earlier this year my daughters player developed a fault. I searched everywhere for the purchase receipt and when I couldn't find it I emailed customer support (Unisupport) & explained the situation. After a couple of email exchanges I was told to return the defective unit & it was replaced with a new one free of charge - even though I couldn't find my receipt! This week I have again contacted customer support because the wires a set of earphones have broken off at the moulded plug, probably from normal wear & tear. I expected to pay for a replacement, if I could get one. Instead I have received an email from Unisupport to say that the new earphones have been dispatched & that there is NO charge, they told me it was in the spirit of Christmas. Customer service of this standard is very rarely given in the UK today and I am very grateful to Unisupport.

I know it's not the same thing, but I bought some ceramic salt & pepper mills from Aldi, they said lifetime guarantee on the label, one broke after about a year a half, surprisingly I still had the receipt they didn't have anymore, so they refunded me, no problems.
I have no worries buying from Aldi, great electrical items, with good guarantees.
