Washing up liquid

I got fed up waiting for the half empty washing up liquid bottle to run down so that I could squeeze it into the basin so I transferred the liquid into an empty sauce bottle and now I just flick the lid and squeeze. :)

Why have the manufacturers not gone in the direction of upside down bottles the same as the sauce bottles?

Just take the label off and turn it the other way up!

I always add a little bit of warm water to the dregs of the washing up liquid, shake gently to mix, and it lasts for several more uses.

For liquid hand soap, I recently bought one of those pump top bottles which dispenses the liquid as foam, and it is fabulous! I put approx one quarter liquid soap in it, top up with water, give it a little shake and it’s good to go. I find just one pump of foam is plenty to wash my hands with, and just shows how much product I was over-using before. This is now my new favourite thing!!

Amazon sells a pack of 2 x 5 litre Proctor & Gamble Professional Fairy Original washing up liquid for 21.40 ie 2.14 per litre. On the 5L container it says that it will do up to 250 large (catering) sinks. I buy it for my mother and she says it's better than the supermarket stuff.

The bigger the bottle, the longer the wait when it is nearly empty.

Here in Canada, one manufacturer put their dish liquid into pump bottles like you'd use for handwash.  I loved it, the rest of the country didn't.  So I bought all the clearance stock and just top up an empty bottle.  One good pump does the job.

"One good pump does the job."  My wife thought the same.

Turn the bottle upside down and put it in an empty plastic container so that it will stand up like that or when you're filling the sink close the top firmly and then drop the bottle into the hot water under the hot tap so that the contents warm up and run out nice and quickly when you squeeze it. The other thing I do is, like C_J above, I dilute it with water once it gets down to a certain level; in fact I dilute many water based liquids to make them go further e.g. milk, shampoo and so on.
