Lender raising enquiries after offer??

Hi all, we were due to exchange on our sale earlier this week. I've been sent an extract of an e mail from the buyer's solicitor that says "We had been promised the lender's reply today when we reported on 14th but they have since queried/requested more information from the broker and clients which we understand has been supplied yesterday. We are all aiming for completion on the 30th but cannot proceed until we have the lender's reply confirming we may do so".
I have never heard of requests for information after mortgage offer. I'm getting very concerned now. Anyone have any experience with this?

It happens, it is not that unusual, just in normal times the lenders are a little quicker at dealing with things. I also suspect that the client was not as quick off the mark as they should have been, hence only supplying the information yesterday. It is largely an unknown, it could be absolutely nothing, the bank just crossing their Ts and dotting their Is, or it could be there is a genuine issue. The result could be anywhere between approval to exchange this afternoon through to their mortgage offer being cancelled, you will not know until you hear back from the solicitor.1

Thank you. Hopefully the former as they seem to have suggested it has resolved. At this point I will believe it when it happens!0
