Do I need to register as self employed??

I’m currently a stay at home mum but I’ve started working the odd day or two for my mum and she pays me for it but some is transferred to my bank account and some is cash.
I’ve told UC and they told me to update my claim as self employed. But do I need to officially register as self employed with HMRC and if so how?
