So I have received a letter with CCTV photos of my car parked and a charge of £100, £60 if paid within 14 days. I have initially ignored this letter as per advice given. Just want to check that this is the case? I am led to believe that private companies have no authority to make you pay these so called fines??

True, but thay can take you to court within six years  Best that you read the newbies thread and try to get it cancelled.Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, sometimes it can lead to cancellation.,

Where on earth did you read to ignore it?  Some old threads or a rubbish forum?  Who is leading you to believe this?

More likely to be ANPR or MNPR pictures from a camera , not CCTV !!
