Boss calling my daughter a liar

Hi
My daughter was sick at work twice on Friday, was cold and had flu symptoms so asked to come home. She waited 3 hrs for cover to arrive and then came home and went straight to bed. She noticed this afternoon she had been removed from the work rota and couldn’t sign in. She messaged her boss and he then called her and said he was going to sack her and literally called her a lair more than once - he said she wasn’t sick because she had posted on the rota could somebody cover her because she felt ill and wanted to go home and he had read the messages! She said she wasn’t lying, she had been sick and was in bed all weekend. Again he told her to stop lying to him that he knew she had made plans for the evening (which she genuinely hadn’t). He just kept telling her she was lying and wouldn’t let her speak!!
In all the years I’ve worked I’ve never heard someone be so rude and horrible to an employee. He was belittling and told her she’s got until 2pm tomorrow to let him know if she still wants to work for them!!  She hasn’t been given a contract or has anything apart from being paid to say that she even works for this company. Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

More to the point, who on earth would she want to go on working there (although yes, obviously, it's a job at a time when...).

Why were you listening in to the call? She needs to decide what she wants to do and then do it. Two choices, really: get on with it and accept her boss is a nasty piece of work (so start job hunting); or do the alternative and risk being out of work.

If your daughter is old enough to be at work, she's old enough to make her own decisions, however tempting it is for a parent to storm in on her behalf.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

I'm guessing she has been there under 2 years, in which case she has little in the way of employment rights.  As long as she is paid for her notice period there is nothing she can do.
