National Insurance

I would like to retire before the age of 66 relying on my private pension for income. I understand that this income will be taxable and I will pay tax national insurance.
My question is: will these National Insurance payments contribute towards the number of years I need to qualify for the full state pension at age 66?
Thanks

National insurance isn't payable on pension income.

Have you actually checked your State Pension forecast on gov.uk?

You need to do this and read past the likely headline of £175.20 before you do anything else.

Finally, you are under transitional rules, not the new 35 years system so without your State Pension forecast everything is just guesswork.
