First time buyers going through application process with Halifax Oct 2020

Options
Hi everyone  :)
My partner and I are first time buyers and submitted our mortgage application through our MB on the 22nd of September to Halifax. My partner has a few defaults on his account which were satisfied way back when and are due to drop off his credit report by October 2021. He has an ok credit rating (badly affected by those defaults) but he pays all his bills and credit cards in full each month- with no late payments or any adverse credit behaviour over the last 5 years. I have an excellent credit score with no adverse credit, everything is paid off on time too with little to no use of my credit cards. Worth me mentioning we have no debt and save a good chunk of money monthly. My partner is employed full time and I run my own business- business has been running just shy of 2 years so I have only been able to provide Halifax with 1 year of accounts. Our MB seems to think we should be ok, we have no debt and have a 20% deposit for a £375k property. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance for anyone in a similar situation as us who has been accepted or declined a mortgage with Halifax. We've been told a kerbside valuation is booked for the end of this month (October 2020) and should expect to get a decision a few days following that. We have been on tenterhooks ever since we submitted our mortgage application and have absolutely no idea what the outcome will be. Has anyone been in a similar situation to us and do you have any success stories or advise? This has got to be one of the most stressful experiences of our lives.

  • Also forgot to mention, the LTV is really low. Combined we bring in a healthy salary, we could technically pay the mortgage amount 5 times over whilst still covering our bills (bills and outgoings are low each month).
