Employer suggested stopping pension to help through COVID as a suggestion to help.     Few did including partner.  Went to opt-in as I explained a gimmick of pretending to care but actually saving themselves money.     Three months lapse of asking in writing to starting paying in- no reply.

Can the employer refuse to opt back in up until three years pass from opting out?

They should perhaps remind themselves of Regulator guidance around inducement to opt-out.

No.

3 years refers to automatic re-enrolment (which is different to opting-in) - the employer has to automatically re-enrol staff who have opted-out every 3 years.

Thank you.  As I said requests been ignored.  Person now-departed company- how can this missing months contributions be taking back ?

Put complaint in writing to employer if you haven't already, and complain to regulator
