When you apply for a new job can they ask for your sickness record? I am being made redundant and feel really as a result.
I don't want to call in sick too much though because I am worried that it could affect my chance of a new job

they ask you to make a statement of how many days sick you have had and this can also come through a reference as it is factual as far as I am aware.
they can also ask you to attend a medical or agree to release your medical records for some jobs.0 -
Looking at your other post, it seems you aren't very happy in the job - but with such a short time to go before your voluntary redundancy kicks in, why risk putting future job opportunities at risk?Thomas_Holding said:When you apply for a new job can they ask for your sickness record? A new employer can't ask for your sickness record before offering you a job, but they can ask the question in a reference request.
If sick, stay home. If not sick, go to work.Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
Good point, I was happy until I was stabbed in the back.Brynsam said:

If you're not well enough to work then go off sick - you can always explain it to a new employer as the redundancy situation was stressful. Don't get the reference to 'stabbed in the back' reading through your posts. Redundancy is not something MOST reasonable employers like doing but it can feel incredibly difficult for the employee to cope with.1
