Hi,
I'm after some advice please.
I had an offer accepted on a house on Friday 2nd October 2020. On the same day I emailed my mortgage advisor to let her know I was ready to apply for a mortgage. I hadn't had a response so on the following Tuesday I called and her receptionist told me she was on another line and would call me back. I didn't receive a call back so I sent a further email the next day (Wed). I then got a call 10 minutes later and we went through what further information and documents she would need for my application. I sent the required docs to her on Thursday 9th Oct.
I has now been over a week since I sent the documents and I called yesterday and was told she wasn't in the office so I sent an email asking for an update on the application and for her to give me a call to which I have had no reply.
I am starting to get anxious that it has been 2 weeks since my offer was accepted and I still haven't got a mortgage application submitted.
Can anyone confirm that I am right to be worried or is it pretty normal? I am a first time buyer so don't know how long it usually takes.
Thanks x

That is not normal. They obviously have too many cases. I would expect a reply later the same day or the next day. You should have had your application in by now and got into one of the massive queues!0

Thanks for your reply, that is what I thought.
I'm looking into contacting someone else if I haven't heard anything back today.

I used a large company that specifically deal with bad credit etc. I've since found this forum and there are lots of brokers on here that people have personally recommended. I would go with one of those next time around personally.0

While it is busy at the moment there is no reason it should take that long.0

Thank you for your advice.
She's never available when I call and doesn't seem to respond to the majority of my emails. I only get a response if I've asked a quick question.0 -
I had the same issue and it was because he was too busy, which is not what you want at all.
I can recommend @haras_n0sirrah who has been absolutely amazing, after going back and forth with my broker and hearing nothing I contacted Sarah and within a day my application has now been placed and she has kept in constant communication with me throughout the process.
Get in touch with her, you will not regret it!2 -
Yes I think this is probably the case. I have called again and again she was on the other line. I've expressed my concerns to the lady that answered the phone and I'll give her till Monday to get back to me and then i'm going somewhere else.
Thank you for your recommendation x0 -

Well a quick update.
She got her act together and my application went in on Monday.
Today I received a copy of my mortgage offer from the advisor which was dated 21st (Wednesday) which is 2 working days!
Very shocked!
Thanks for all your advice
