Paying off Lowell from overseas
Hello all,
Just looking for some advice on paying back some debt from overseas,
To give you bit of history, I emigrated to Aus three years ago to start a fresh life, the trouble was that I left behind some credit card debt and an old phone bill…
I’ve just been forwarded on some letters from my previous address in the UK stating that the debt has now been transferred to Lowell to handle, the debt itself amounts to a total of £1633. Now I certainly seem to have found the life I was looking for and am now in a position to pay off the debt, but I was wondering whether I should go down the route of ‘bargaining’ the full amount down if I pay it off in one go?
To be honest there isn’t much chance of me returning to the UK any time soon (if ever) but I still will pay this off as it is the right thing to do, but I may as well try to get a discount.
Also if I transferred monies to a member of the family and used their account to pay it off would there be any recourse from Lowell to chase them up? (if I were to pay off instalments only).
Thanks in advance for anyone’s assistance.

The decision to pay should be given long and serious consideration. Another three years should be enough.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
