O/S Daily Friday 16 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark and damp. Air is cool.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken, potato and bacon pie, side of peas and mushrooms. Tonight will be something and chips.
I did get jobs done yesterday that I wanted and will do some more today. I'll be heading to the SM firs thing, then have a nail appointment, this afternoon I have another appointment - so quite a busy day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all . Thank you Nmic for starting us off . I am up early as yesterdays lay in made me feel very sluggish all day and nothing of any note was achieved I will do better today I promise a good hoover round and floor wash are the order of the day and i need to take my elderly neighbour to the chemist for her flu jab . Not sure what the weather is like as it is still dark out but as soon as its light i shall take the dog out . Dinner tonight will be pie and mash . We have not been put in tier 2 as we are a unitry borough so do not come under Essex but most of the neighbouring boroughs fall under Essex or London including mum who is very upset as she has just started having friends visit or take her out for a ride in the car and now this is stopping again .
We seem to be walking a very fine line between the mental and physical health of the nation
Right better get a shifty on have a good day one and all x

Good morning, briar chilly! Thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Today I'm going for a socially distanced walk with a friend, to a local historic house and garden. We usually go there several times each year, to watch how things progress and change but of course we have not been there for many months. My friend was there with another friend a couple of weeks ago and says that things are well organised. I think our usual treat of coffee and cake in their cafe might have to ve served at a hatch and taken outside but even though it is cold, it is dry. The MSE electric enter is that friend has a subscription with plus 1 so I don't pay to go in, i usually get the coffee. I will go by bus as we can't go in other people's cars. My friend's daughter is expecting a baby, her first though friend's second grandchild, and I've a little jumper which is almost ready, just two seams to sew.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day so I got washing dry and did a bit of gardening.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning All
Peace again here, DGD went home yesterday after a swim, I met DS1 half way and we had lunch. DGS was asking when it was his turn to stay on his own - will have to organise that when I have lots of energy! I called to see friends near the handover point and we had a lovely afternoon tea and a good chat. They are from SA and were hoping that family would be coming over for Christmas but that's looking less likely so have invited them here.
A lovely relaxing evening yesterday, caught up with the GBBO, can't watch anything with DGD as she gives a running commentary which drives me round the bend!
Bedding in the WM, another load already out but I can't see it drying too well but at least it will smell nice and fresh. All the visitor's bedding is ready to go back on but that can wait.
Off to Glasgow with a friend today for a wander, don't need anything so a browse will do although I may nip into Tesco to take back a pair of trousers that I'm not keen on.
Enjoy your day AOD. Take care everyone.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Brr it was a nippy start this morning so the heating is on to take the chill off.
I had a better sleep last night, making up for the night before. I could have slept longer but the sparkly cat was getting impatient for her breakfast. Fed and watered she is now on the top deck of the contraption I made up for her, keeping the bird table under observation. She tolerates the birds but its daggers drawn when she sees the squirrel on it!
So what's exciting on the agenda today then. Oh that's right, nothing. Half a Friday Tidy left (kitchen and bathroom done yesterday) so just a trundle round with the duster and vacuum and that'll be my lot. My reading mojo seems to have deserted me and I just seem to trail about aimlessly a lot of the time. I blame it on the times we are living in, 7 months of this unsociable life and goodness knows how much longer it will go on for.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and stay safe (and sane) xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Good morning folks.Yesterday passed in a blur of waiting for the cleaner to arrive, waiting for her to finish, waiting for the gas engineer to come and then waving him off again! In between times I changed DM's bed linen and got it washed. Oh, I retuned three TVs and three PVR boxes too. And I had a lovely chat with my SIL in Oz.Today's agenda may include a wee walk to the nearest CS to hand over some more treasure from the back of a cupboard. The trees are turning into glorious red and shedding their leaves with every breathe of wind. I may scuff my way through a pile of fallen leaves to pretend that I'm a carefree child again.Happy Friday to all.11

Morning all
Brrrrrr cold here this morning the heating will have to go on soon but will try and hold off for a few more days, the fire keeps us warm enough in the evenings for now.
I am off to the hospital for an appointment today just a routine thing so it wont take too long but i will nip into Aldi on the way back for some Tea bags and a bottle of wine. Dinner tonight is not decided yet but maybe fahitas or there is some lasagne left from last night which just needs re heating.
DW needs emtying and re-filling this morning and I will have a sweep and tidy before I go, this afternoon it will be the fire and netflix.
Hope you all have good days xx

Morning all, it's cold here too and we have put the fire on.This morning we shall be taking the car for a run, probably just up and down the dual carriageway
It's the only place that you can put your foot down and blow the cobwebs out of the car. We will wait till the morning rush has passed though or we'll be sitting in a big queue and going nowhere fast. We are going to call in at the van on the way home to make sure all is well there too.
The green waste bins were filled yesterday, I think there is only enough left to fill 2 more bins and Mr Fix It was doing a bit of outside house maintenance, so we are both rather achy today. Never mind we were out in the fresh air and getting a bit of exercise. We chatted to a man in next doors garden ( first time anyone has been there since March ) who has been tasked with cleaning up the garden, so we may have new neighbours by the end of the year...... hope they are decent people.I need to make a loaf and sort the ironing from the non ironing, anything else done will be off piste ! Tea tonight will be chicken and bacon tortellini in a cheese sauce, we'll have some fresh baked loaf with it too.Take care, stay safe and well...... and please let me visit the bench........ I won't tell if you won'tnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10
