WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY CREDIR CARD?

Options
I will be applying for a mortgage and I have two credit cards that I paid off. The reason I have two is because I had to balance transfer to two cards due to my balance.
i have read that I should keep credit card accounts open but I don’t want to leave them both open. Should I close the one card with the higher credit limit or the one card with the lower credit limit?

  • Keep them both open. Specially if you have recently paid them in full because they will take at least 4-6weeks to come off the credit file anyway. It wouldn’t make any negative impact on the mortgage as most lenders only ask the balance and if you don’t have any balance on them then it’s no difference.
In the long run, it’s better to get rid of the lower limit and keep the higher limit. May be spend some money every month and pay in full at the end of the month to keep your credit score up.
