Contract of employment

I signed my contract back in 2007 and it states "Your normal working week is one of 30 hours".
But it goes on to say "The standard working week is one of 37 hours".
I would have expected it to say that my minimum hours are xx but you may be required to work 37 hours.
I work for a large local authority, so I would expect then to get it right. But is this a legal contract, as it seems unclear what my minimum hours of work are?
I understand it a legal requirement to state the hours the must be worked.

    No idea what's confusing? You are contracted for 30 hours, a FTE is 37 hours. Quite common for working out pro rata benefits.

    My normal working week cannot be 30 hours, because I haven't worked 30 hours for over 5 years.

    i think what the poster is trying to say is that you are working part time?  so 30 hours?

    So why haven't you worked 30hrs for over 5yrs ? How many hours have you worked ?

    The first 6 years of this job I usually worked 39 hours sometimes more, only occasionally dropping back to 37, when I was a single parent it dropped down to 30 for a year or so, but I often worked more and it gradually got up to being between 36 and 40 hours.

    So why did you work that if you were contracted for 30 - especially in a LA environment ? Presumably you knew you should work 30 and your boss knew you should work 30 ?

    What are you looking for ? Please don't suggest 7hrs per week for the last 6yrs

    My issue has arisen because there is less work due to COVID, although they did employ 12 new employees a couple of months ago.
    Working hours are varied between each worker, its a minibus taking people to different places and some are staying home.
    I think there may be enough work once things settle down. My ideal hours would be 37, but happy to be flexible a couple of hours either way, but not keen on going down to 30
    I do get paid for all the hours that I work.

    So are you paid hourly or salary ? If your contract says 30 and they're controlling the work then they'll give 30 and now is not the time to be looking for/expecting extra hours

    I am looking to work my normal hours, or somewhere close, which is not 30. I always understood my normal hours were 37
    We do have more work, but they seem poor at organisation at the moment.

    i think that contract had you down for working 30 hours, and they stated what a full time hour would be, that is 37 hours, for the pro rate pay.  if you worked more than 30 hours then they would pay you the full time rate and overtime if they had an overtime policy.
